Turn any page title into a short, clean URL slug. Paste one title or a whole list, and the tool strips accents, symbols and filler words to give you SEO-friendly slugs you can copy.
Built and maintained by the Kadima team. Updated September 2026.
Hyphens are Google's recommended word separator. Only switch to underscores if your platform needs them.
One per line if you want slugs for several pages at once.
Remove filler words, drop years and numbers, and set a maximum length.
Paste them into your CMS before you publish. Changing a slug later means setting up a redirect.
A good slug is short, lowercase and readable, uses hyphens between words and includes the main keyword for the page. Three to five words is usually enough. /emergency-plumber-austin/ tells people and search engines what to expect. /the-10-best-emergency-plumbers-in-austin-2024-guide/ says the same thing at twice the length and goes out of date.
Your URL appears in search results and gets shared in messages and posts. A clear slug helps people trust the link and helps search engines and AI tools understand the page. Short slugs without years also last: you can update the page every year without changing the URL.
Only change a live URL if you have a good reason. When you do, add a 301 redirect from the old URL to the new one so you keep the links and rankings the page has earned. Writing the title to match? Check it in the SERP preview tool.

Use hyphens. Google treats hyphens as spaces between words, while words joined by underscores can be read as one long word.
Only for content that’s tied to one date, like an event. For guides you plan to update, leave the year out so you never have to change the URL.
Three to five words is a good target. Make it long enough to describe the page and short enough to read at a glance.
Not directly. Removing words like "the" and "of" keeps URLs short and readable. Keep a stop word if removing it changes the meaning.
It turns accented letters into their plain versions, so é becomes e, replaces & with "and", and removes other symbols and punctuation.
