LinkedIn ads cost more per click than almost any other ad platform. In 2026, most B2B advertisers pay $5.50 to $10 per click, $34 to $55 per 1,000 impressions and $60 to $125 per lead. LinkedIn’s own minimum is just $10 a day per campaign. The price makes sense when one customer is worth thousands of dollars, and it rarely does when they are not.
This guide covers what LinkedIn charges, what each ad format costs, the budget we would start with, and how to bring the cost per lead down.
Average LinkedIn ads cost in 2026
| Metric | Typical 2026 range | Strong accounts |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per click (CPC) | $5.50 to $10 | $3.50 to $5 |
| Cost per 1,000 impressions (CPM) | $34 to $55 | $20 to $30 |
| Cost per lead (CPL) | $60 to $125 | $40 to $60 |
| Cost per send (Message Ads) | $0.20 to $1 | $0.15 to $0.50 |
These ranges come from 2026 industry benchmarks across managed B2B accounts, and they match what we see. For comparison, LocaliQ put the average Google search click at $5.26 in its 2025 benchmark, so a LinkedIn click often costs about the same or up to twice as much.
Benchmarks also report that CPMs rose around 28% heading into 2026. More advertisers are chasing the same senior audiences, and LinkedIn’s inventory has not grown at the same pace.
LinkedIn’s minimum budget
LinkedIn’s official minimums are low. According to LinkedIn Marketing Solutions’ budget guidance:
- The minimum daily budget is $10 for any ad format.
- The minimum lifetime budget for a new campaign is $100. Once a campaign runs, the minimum becomes $10 times the number of days scheduled.
- LinkedIn suggests starting at $25 a day for new advertisers and $50 to $100 a day for existing ones.
A $10 daily budget will run, but at $8 a click it buys about one visitor a day. That is not enough to learn anything in a reasonable time.
Cost by ad format
| Format | Typical cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Single image ads | $8 to $12 per click | 0.4% to 0.6% click-through rate |
| Carousel ads | About 10% more per click than single image | 0.6% to 0.8% click-through rate |
| Video ads | $0.06 to $0.14 per view; $35 to $65 CPM | Often a lower cost per lead than static images |
| Message ads | $0.20 to $1 per send | 35% to 50% open rates |
| Text ads | $3 to $6 per click | Cheap clicks, very low click-through rate |
| Dynamic ads | $6 to $10 per click | Personalized with the viewer’s profile photo and name |

What makes LinkedIn ads more or less expensive
Who you target. C-suite audiences at companies with 10,000+ employees in the US cost two to three times more than mid-level audiences at smaller companies.
How you target. Job title targeting is the most expensive. Job function plus seniority usually gives the best balance, and switching to it often cuts CPCs by 20% to 30%. Industry plus company size is the cheapest.
How relevant your ad is. LinkedIn rewards ads people engage with. Well-targeted ads with strong creative can run 30% to 40% below the audience’s average CPC.
When you run. October to December brings 15% to 25% CPC inflation. January and February are usually the cheapest months.
How you bid. LinkedIn offers Maximum delivery, Cost cap and Manual bidding. Automated bidding is easiest to start with. Manual bidding tends to give lower CPCs once you know your numbers.
How much to spend on your first campaign
Work back from the leads you need to judge the channel. Here is the math for a $5,000 monthly budget at three click prices, assuming 5% of visitors become leads.
| Average CPC | Clicks per month | Leads at 5% | Cost per lead |
|---|---|---|---|
| $6 | 833 | 42 | $120 |
| $8 | 625 | 31 | $160 |
| $10 | 500 | 25 | $200 |
For a first test we recommend $50 to $100 a day for at least 4 weeks, which is $1,500 to $3,000. Less than that rarely produces enough leads to tell a good campaign from a bad one. Run your own numbers through our free CPA calculator before you commit.
How to lower your LinkedIn cost per lead
- Use Lead Gen Forms. Forms open inside LinkedIn, pre-filled from the member’s profile, so far more people finish them than a landing page form.
- Target by function and seniority, not titles. You reach the same people with less bidding pressure.
- Retarget. Retargeted audiences convert at around 7.8% against 3.2% for cold audiences, and their cost per lead runs about 45% lower.
- Refresh creative every 4 to 6 weeks. LinkedIn audiences are small, so the same ad tires quickly and CPCs creep up.
- Test the LinkedIn Audience Network. It extends your ads to partner apps and sites and can cut CPMs by 15% to 30%. Watch lead quality closely.
- Avoid Q4 launches. Start new tests in January or February when the auction is cheaper.
Is LinkedIn advertising worth the cost?
It depends on what a customer is worth. If your average deal is $10,000 and one in ten qualified leads closes, you can afford a $500 cost per lead and still make money. If your average sale is $200, LinkedIn will almost never pay back, and Google Ads or Meta ads will reach your buyers more cheaply.
LinkedIn earns its price when you sell to businesses, when job title or company matters, and when your deal size is large enough to absorb a $100+ lead. That is why it works best as part of a wider plan where search catches buyers who are already looking and LinkedIn reaches the ones who are not yet.
If you want a team to run it, our LinkedIn ads agency service manages targeting, Lead Gen Forms and bidding, and reports cost per qualified lead rather than clicks. It sits inside our PPC management plans, which start at $1,450 a month.
FAQ
How much does LinkedIn advertising cost per month?
Budgets vary widely. LinkedIn’s own minimum is $10 a day, but we recommend $50 to $100 a day for a first test, which is $1,500 to $3,000 a month, and scaling only once your cost per lead is proven.
What is the minimum budget for LinkedIn ads?
$10 a day per campaign for any ad format, and $100 as a lifetime budget for a new campaign. LinkedIn suggests new advertisers start at $25 a day.
Why are LinkedIn ads so expensive?
You are paying for targeting no other platform offers, such as job title, seniority and company. The audiences are small and many advertisers compete for the same senior buyers, so CPMs of $34 to $55 are normal.
Is LinkedIn cheaper than Google Ads?
Usually not per click. LinkedIn clicks typically cost $5.50 to $10, against a $5.26 average Google search CPC in 2025. LinkedIn can still win on cost per customer for high-value B2B deals.
